Please register your student(s) by email before July 1 for the 2024 – 2025 school year. Classes are limited, so the earlier you let me know, the less chance there will be that a class will be full. More classes may be added if there is sufficient interest.
The primary goal of studying the literature and events of the past is to grow in wisdom; in addition, it is extremely difficult to assess how well a student has read a piece of literature. What is simple for one student to absorb and understand may be challenging for another. Likewise, writing is notoriously difficult to grade objectively. Most importantly, we want our students to love learning itself and not focus primarily on grades. For these reasons, I do not assign grades. However, knowing that parents must prepare transcripts, I provide abundant feedback to students on their written assignments and am glad to discuss your student’s performance with you to guide your grading process.
Middle School students will be given writing assignments to be completed at home. Please check your weekly email to keep track of their assignments and due dates.
For High School students, observing due dates is critical; it prepares them for the expectations of college-level classes and disciplines their study and work habits. Please know what your student is working on and when it is due, give him plenty of time to complete it, and check with him before class to see that it is completed.
